| Minnesota PGA Section News 06/16/2009 - 11:09 AM BORGEN WINS ASSISTANTS EVENT #3 Chris Borgen of Hastings CC shot a 2 under par 70 to win the third Assistants Event of 2009 at Interlachen Country Club. Finishing in a tie for second two shots back at even par 72 were Matt Norgaard of Somerby GC and Chris Bailey of North Oaks GC. 06/15/2009 - 02:45 PM PGA CHAMPIONSHIP EXHIBIT AND PLAY GOLF AMERICA DAYS AT GALLERIA The PGA of America held its grand opening of the PGA Championship Exhibit June 9th at the Galleria Shopping Mall in Edina, MN. The Exhibit is on display now through the PGA Championship in August at Hazeltine National Golf Club and recognizes past champions of the the event. 06/10/2009 - 12:10 AM SORENSON/BORGEN TIE IN LUTHER PRO-SERIES Jeff Sorenson of Columbia GC and Chris Borgen of Hastings CC each shot 2 under par 70 to tie for first in the Luther Pro Series event held at The Lakes Course at Ruttgers Bay Lake on Monday, June 8th. Finishing third at 1 under par 71 was Tim Johnson of Legacy Courses at Craguns. Special thanks to title sponsor Luther Automotive Group and presenting sponsors Grand Casino and the PGA Tour. 06/01/2009 - 12:05 AM WOMENS GOLF MONTH June 1 - June 30, 2009 Now in its fifth year, American Express Womens Golf Month is a precedent-setting collaboration of the top country, golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf. Scheduled to be held at golf facilities nationwide, American Express Womens Golf Month will offer people 14 years of age and older free golf lessons and golf-related networking and social activities customized by each host facility. 06/01/2009 - 12:04 AM SECTION PROFESSIONALS RETAIN CUP A team of 20 Section Professionals defeated the MGA Amateur team 27.5 to 12.5 Tuesday, May 19th to retain the Cup in the 33rd Annual PGA MGA Cup Matches held at Bent Creek Golf Club in Eden Prairie, MN. Each team consisted of four women, four senior men and twelve regular division men. The MGA Team held the early lead, but the Section team was able to win 18 of the last 20 points possible for the victory. Special thanks to addidas and Julie Oerther and Imperial Headwear and Bob Weber for supporting the event and PGA Professional Paul Kelley and Bent Creek Golf Club for hosting the event. 05/29/2009 - 10:27 AM ANDERSON WINS MINNESOTA SENIOR OPEN Amateur John Anderson of Bunker Hills GC shot a final round 5 under par 67 and a two day total of 7 under par 137 to win the 2009 Minnesota Senior Open at the Links at Northfork on Wednesday, May 27th. 05/22/2009 - 01:17 PM BAKKEN WINS ASSISTANTS CHALLENGE #2 Ryan Bakken of Eastwood GC shot a 2 over par 74 and birdied the first playoff hole against Chris Borgen of Hastings CC to win the second Assistants Event of 2009 at StoneRidge GC. 05/10/2009 - 12:36 AM RASK, HANSON LEAD MINNESOTA GOLF CHAMPIONS Two-time champion Clayton Rask of Monticello CC and Kane Hanson of Detroit CC share the 36 hole lead at 6 under par 138 at the 2009 Arthur J. Gallagher Minnesota Golf Champions presented by OnPar at Minneapolis Golf Club. 05/06/2009 - 08:23 AM KLEINBROOK/ROSE WIN LUTHER PRO-SERIES EVENT #1 Professionals Matt Kleinbrook and Ernie Rose from Windsong Farm GC combined to shoot a best ball score of 3 under par 69 at Hazeltine National Golf Club Monday, May 4th to win the first Pro Series event of the year. Hazeltine, host of the 2009 PGA Championship in August, was set up as if the event was a day from the Championship, playing at over 7,500 yards. 05/06/2009 - 08:22 AM MANTHIS INDUCTED INTO PGA GOLF PROFESSIONAL HALL OF FAME Section PGA Member Jim Manthis was one of eight new members inducted into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame Tuesday, May 5th in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Manthis becomes the third PGA Professional from Minnesota to enter the Hall of Fame, joining Wally Mund and Jock Olson. |
