| Minnesota PGA Section News 10/27/2009 - 02:35 PM 2009 BIRDIES FOR BIGS The Assistants Chapter of the Minnesota PGA once again raised funds to benefit the children of our communities through the Birdies For Bigs Program. A donation of $10 for every birdie made during the 2009 Assistants Chapter season will be made to The Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program of The Greater Twin Cities. We are happy to announce that this season a total of 486 birdies were made. 10/06/2009 - 12:23 PM HEINZ WINS FINAL LUTHER PRO SERIES EVENT Jennifer Heinz of TPC Twin Cities shot a course record 6 under par 66 at Stillwater Country Club to win the final Luther Pro Series event on Monday, October 5th. Finishing tied for second three shots back at 3 under par 69 were Don Berry of Edinburgh USA, Brent Snyder of Troy Burne GC, and Eddie Wynne of StoneRidge GC. 10/02/2009 - 02:15 PM MINNESOTA SECTION PGA MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP Eddie WynneEddie Wynne of StoneRidge Golf Club defeated Jeff Kringen of Spring Hill Golf Club 3 and 2 to win the Minnesota PGA Match Play Championship at Olympic Hills GC. Wynne advanced to the final match by defeating Brent Snyder of Troy Burne GC 2 and 1 in the semifinals while Kringen defeated Steve Fessler of Pheasant Acres GC 2 and 1. 09/28/2009 - 04:33 PM MINNESOTA SECTION PGA SENIOR MATCH PLAY Bill Israelson from Vintage GC defeated Mike Barge from Hazeltine National GC in 19 Holes to claim the Senior Match Play Championship at Town and Country Club in Saint Paul, MN September 24 and 25. Israelson advanced to the final match by defeating Mike Zinni of Mankato GC in 19 holes while Barge defeated Jeff Otto of Olymic Hills GC 6 and 5 in the other semifinal match. 09/22/2009 - 03:44 PM SCHMIERER/BORGEN WIN FACILITY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Hastings CC team of Brad Schmierer and Chris Borgen shot a Best Ball score of 8 under par 64 to win the Ashworth Facility Team Championship at Burl Oaks GC. Finishing second two shots back at 6 under par 66 was the team of Jeff Drimel and Ben Meyers from Medina G and CC. Thanks to Ashworth for supporting the event Burl Oaks GC for hosting. 09/09/2009 - 09:56 PM ISRAESON WINS MINNESOTA PGA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP Bill Israelson of the Vintage Golf Club shot a final round even par 72 for a two day total of 4 over par 148 to win his second consecutive Minnesota PGA Senior Championship at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, MN. Finishing second two shots back at 6 over par 150 was Terry Comstock of Prairie Green GC. 09/01/2009 - 11:28 PM KRINGEN WINS MINNESOTA PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Jeff Kringen of Spring Hill GC shot a final round 5 under par 67 for a two day total of 7 under par 137 to win the 2009 Minnesota PGA Professional Championship by four shots at the Pines at Grandview Lodge in Nisswa, MN August 31st and September 1st. 08/25/2009 - 11:24 AM MINNESOTA SECTION CALLAWAY GOLF ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP Assistant Professional Ben Meyers from Medina G and CC shot a 2 under par 142 and survived a two hole playoff with Brent Smith from Westward Ho CC to win the 2009 Minnesota Section Callaway Golf Assistant Championship at Medina Golf and Country Club. 08/18/2009 - 11:18 PM HASTINGS COUNTRY CLUB WINS MCGLADREY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Hastings Country Club team made up of PGA Professional Brad Schmierer and amateurs Jeff Ferron, Mike Polk and Jesse Polk shot a team score of 12 under par 132 to win the 2009 Sectional McGladrey Teram Championship at StoneRidge Golf Club on Tuesday, August 18th. Hastings will advance to the National McGladrey Team Championship being held October 26th to 28th at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Finishing second one shot back at 11 under par 133 was the team from Stonebrooke Golf Course led by PGA professional Barrett Boe. 08/06/2009 - 11:54 AM SCHMIDT WINS WOMENS STATE OPEN Amateur Rachael Schmidt of Elk River CC shot a final round 2 over par 74 and survived a three hole playoff to capture her first Minnesota Womens State Open Championship at Hillcrest G and CC. Joining Schmidt in the playoff at 6 over par 150 was amateur Hillary Gerster of Bunker Hills GC. |
